Categorical Analysis of 2022 Global Energy Production Across Diverse Sources

We have used Tableau software to create high-impact visualizations of these large datasets of global energy sources into visual graphics to allow for easy understanding of complex relationships within the data.

Electricity is an important part of our modern day life. This data visualization demonstrates the highest power producing countries, various sources of power production, and use of alternate power technologies for power production by various countries. This  data includes various sources of traditional power production such as hydropower, coal, natural gas, and oil as well as alternate power sources such as biofuel, wind, solar, and nuclear power. Following observations can be made from this analysis.

  1. The largest and most populous countries produce the most power on an annual basis.
  2. Despite being a key driver of global warming, coal power is still a key component of meeting the world's energy needs.
  3. Countries producing the most power are also the countries heavily relying on coal for power production. Coal power production accounts for 20% of all power produced in the US, 61% of all power produced in China, and 74% of all power produced in India.
  4. Green energy sources such as wind, solar, and nuclear power account for 34% of US' power production, 20% of China's power production, and 14% of India's power production.
  5. European countries are the "MOST GREEN" in terms of meeting their energy needs. Denmark produces 84% of all their power using alternative energy sources followed by France which produces 78% of its power using alternative energy sources.
